Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical and methodical substantiation of the essence, structure, and spatial configuration of the productive forces of trade under contemporary global and regional destructive factors. It is proven that under the influence of pandemic shocks, geoeconomic fragmentation, and full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation, the productive forces of the Ukrainian sphere of circulation lose their narrow material boundaries and transform into a multi-level, spatially adaptive system where physical infrastructure functions in an inseparable synthesis with digital algorithms, big data processing technologies, and network capital. The traditional triad of «means of labor – objects of labor – human potential» has been radically revised. Shifts are substantiated from the predominant use of stationary, capital-intensive facilities toward flexible omni-channel formats, from localized commodity arrays to dynamic commodity-information flows, and from routine service functions toward high digital, operational, and analytical competencies of personnel. A cause-and-effect mechanism behind the waning efficiency of the «Just-in-Time» principle and the imperative transition to the «Just-in-Case» paradigm is substantiated, which entails creating infrastructural buffers, expanding warehouse reserves, and implementing spatial decentralization. It is demonstrated that under the systemic threats of martial law, excessive spatial concentration of capital transforms from a factor of economies of scale into a driver of systemic vulnerability in trade. The patterns behind the breakdown of the monocentric model for locating the material and technical foundation of trade are substantiated, alongside the formation of a polycentric network that integrates relatively safe border territories as cross-border trade and logistics hubs and dry ports. The socio-economic role of adapted productive forces of trade in ensuring food security, uninterrupted supply of goods to communities, and supporting employment is revealed.
