The article substantiates the role of workability as a decisive factor in enhancing labor efficiency at industrial enterprises. It explores the essence and structure of workability, its physiological, psychological, and social determinants, and emphasizes its dependence on the organization of labor, rest, and motivation systems. The study demonstrates that maintaining employees’ sustainable workability directly affects productivity, occupational health, and enterprise competitiveness. Based on the analysis of classical and contemporary research, the paper identifies both internal (age, health, qualification, motivation) and external (working conditions, management style, corporate culture) factors influencing workability. Particular attention is paid to modern approaches to managing employees’ health within the Healthcare Management concept, which is successfully applied in leading international companies. It includes initiatives such as preventive health programs, medical checkups, ergonomic workplaces, and the formation of healthy lifestyle habits. The article highlights the importance of creating a corporate environment where health, well-being, and safety become integral elements of personnel policy. The authors propose practical recommendations for implementing a system of health management and workplace optimization through the Japanese 5S (Lean Manufacturing) methodology, which promotes efficient workspace organization, discipline, and reduced fatigue. These measures increase employee engagement and motivation while reducing absenteeism and healthcare costs. The study concludes that preserving and enhancing workability requires a comprehensive approach combining physiological optimization, rational work-rest schedules, ergonomic improvements, and psychological support. Such an integrated strategy ensures long-term productivity growth and sustainable enterprise development.
