Abstract

It is shown that there are different types of an enterprise development, including organizational development, economic development, socio-economic development, innovative development, sustainable development etc. One of the important types of development for Ukrainian enterprises today is the strategic development.

Approaches to understanding the enterprise strategic development have been considered. The nature of strategic development is proposed to be revealed through the integration of the concepts of strategy, strategic management, and enterprise development.

Distinctive features of the enterprise strategic development have been proposed, and the essence of each has been described. These features include manageability, goal orientation, a comprehensive nature, subjectivity, long-term focus, time lag, the emergence of deviations, external environmental challenges, multi-instrumentality, scenario-based nature, potential employee resistance, and internal inconsistencies within the enterprise.

The composition of stakeholders of the enterprise strategic development has been outlined. Such stakeholders include a group of stakeholders with direct interest and a group with indirect interest. Stakeholders with a direct interest in the enterprise strategic development include its owners, top management, and staff as a whole. Stakeholders with an indirect interest include the enterprise’s customers, the state, and the enterprise’s suppliers. The interests of each identified stakeholder concerning the enterprise strategic development have been described.
