REFORMING THE ENERGY SECTOR OF UKRAINE TO ENSURE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The article examines the importance and urgency of reforming the economy of Ukraine, particularly emphasizing the importance of reforming the energy sector. Reforming the energy sector of Ukraine must take place in accordance with the standards and norms of the European Union, and energy legislation must be harmonized with European legislation. The UN Sustainable Development Goals were analyzed, in particular, attention was paid to Goal No. 7 "Affordable and clean energy".
Summarized and analyzed information on the dynamics of the energy intensity of Ukraine's GDP. It was established that despite the downward trend, Ukraine still has one of the most energy-intensive economies in the world. The analysis of global energy consumption showed a pronounced trend towards a decrease, even despite the impact of crisis phenomena. The article identifies and analyzes the financial and nonfinancial factors affecting the energy intensity of the economy, in particular energy factors: final consumption, production and general primary energy supply. It was determined that the total primary supply of energy is a broader concept than production, as it includes import, export, international bunkering of ships and changes in energy reserves in the country.
An analysis of the goals of the Energy Community until 2030 is presented, in particular in the context of Ukraine. According to the recommendation of the European Commission, these goals should form the basis of the National Energy and Climate Plan. In addition, the Report of the European Commission on the progress of Ukraine in 2023 in the energy sector was analyzed. Prospects for further reform of the industry, taking into account the need for RES development and energy efficiency improvement, have been determined. It was established that reforming the energy sector primarily depends on the timely and complete adoption of European legislation into the Ukrainian regulatory and legal field and the implementation of its provisions in practice. It is noted that the need to reform the energy sector is also important from the point of view of the country's post-war recovery.
