У дослідженні наголошено на актуальності визначення так званих пріоритетно-забезпечувальних галузей національної економіки. Йдеться про сфери, де формується ключове ресурсне забезпечення функціонування й розвитку економіки, а також які створюють необхідне середовище для перебігу процесів ділової активності. Це торгівля і внутрішній ринок, сектори освіти, науки, інновацій, інноваційно-технологічної діяльності, інформаційно-комунікаційний сектор і т. п. Охарактеризовано індекси та обсяги оптового й роздрібного товарообороту в Україні. Узагальнено дані про показники розвитку електронної комерції в Україні. Висвітлено головні параметри функціонування та розвитку вітчизняного ІТ-сектора. Наголошено на місткості та кадровому потенціалі ІТ-сектора економіки України. Наведено результати компаративного аналізування обсягів інвестицій у знання та інноваційний розвиток України. Зроблено висновки відносно обсягів та структури витрат вітчизняних підприємств на інновації, дослідження та розробки. Проаналізовано результативність інноваційної діяльності в Україні. Зроблено висновки в контексті передумов забезпечення фінансово-економічної безпеки пріоритетно-забезпечувальних галузей національної економіки України.
