Abstract

Starting from February 2014, Ukraine experienced a hybrid attack by a rather limited contingent of the military and special forces of the Russian Federation on its territory, which was already accompanied by hostilities for eight years. The full-scale invasion of regular Russian troops began on the morning of February 24, 2022, marking the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war on a much larger scale, both in terms of the size of its spread, as well as in terms of the methods and measures of defeating the territories, the technologies for the use of weapons and personnel, and the degree of negative consequences for the social component, the country's economy and its ecological state.

The sustainable development of the country is based on maintaining a harmonious balance of the functioning of its economic, social, and ecological components and will not be possible in case of non-compliance, violation of the development of at least one of them. The relevance of the stated topic of the article and its purpose is undeniable, timely and important both in the short and long term, if Ukraine complies with the international requirements of its participation in the European Union and strives to become part of the globalized world community.

The article highlights some aspects of the environmental burden on the ecological-economic and ecological-social systems of Ukraine as a result of military actions. A number of literary sources on the selected topic were analyzed, the main indicators are sources, types, consequences, a retrospective analysis was conducted based on the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2014–2024. and international experience. A comparative analysis of indicators of the ecological state of peacetime and wartime showed their significant negative changes in the ecological, economic and ecological components of the general ecological-socio-economic system of Ukraine.
