Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the state of bank lending and its impact on the development of Ukraine's economy. To achieve the goal of the study, the following tasks were solved: an analysis of the current state of domestic bank lending in the uncertainty of the Coronavirus crisis, an assessment of its impact on Ukraine's economy, and the tools that used by the NBU to overcome the crisis are examined. Problems and prospects of credit services market development in Ukraine are identified. Characteristic features of credit activity of banks in modern conditions of economic development are determined. To determine the quality of credit operations, the dynamics and structure of non-performing loans (NPLs) of Ukrainian banks for 2018-2020 are analyzed and ways to reduce them are proposed. The main problems of banks’ credit activity, which restrain lending and its reduction in price, are generalized and practical recommendations for overcoming them are given. The choice of credit strategy by banks of Ukraine is investigated and the ways to improve the crediting process of commercial banks are forecasted. The main organizational and economic measures to improve the lending process of commercial banks are proposed and the activities of the National Bank to support the banking system in the Coronavirus crisis are identified.
